What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 2:00 pm. Check-out is by 10:00 am. If you would like extra time, please let the team know and they will do their best to help, subject to availability and fees.

What is the age policy?

Guests must be 18 years or older to book. Photo ID may be requested at check-in. Guests under 18 must stay with a parent or guardian.

What is the children and extra-person policy?

Infants aged 0 to 2 years stay complimentary in existing bedding or a baby cot, subject to availability. Children under 12 years stay at no extra charge when using existing bedding. Extra beds are not available. Guests aged 12 and over are considered adults. Room rates are based on up to 2 guests, except for the Korimako 2-Bedroom which is based on up to 4 guests. Where permitted, additional guests are NZD 60 per person, per night.

How do I guarantee my booking?

A valid credit card with sufficient funds is required. Online bookings made on the website are charged at the time of booking.

What is the cancellation policy?

Flexible Daily Rates have a 14-day cancellation policy. Inside 14 days or for no-shows, the full accommodation charge may apply. Prepaid Flexi-date Rates are discounted, prepaid and non-refundable. Guests may rebook to a new date, with any rate difference applied, and no refund if the new rate is lower. Specials and Packages have individual policies shown during booking.

How are refunds processed?

Refunds, where applicable, are returned to the same card used for payment. Prices are in NZD and international card refunds may vary with exchange rates.

Which payment methods are accepted, and are there surcharges?

Visa and Mastercard are accepted and a 2.5% card surcharge applies. EFTPOS is available and does not incur a surcharge. Portage Resort is cash-free, so payments are by EFTPOS or credit card only. All prices are in New Zealand Dollars and include 15% GST.

Is online payment secure?

Yes. Online payments are processed through DPS Payment Express, which is PCI DSS compliant and uses SSL encryption in line with New Zealand regulations.

What is included with my room?

Rooms include a private ensuite bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities. Many rooms include balconies or patios with views over Portage or Kenepuru Bay, depending on the room type. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available across the resort, although some areas may have limited access.

Do you offer housekeeping and laundry?

Rooms are serviced daily. Guest laundry is available; please ask reception for details.

Where can I dine on site?

Portage Restaurant & Bar offers all-day dining showcasing local Marlborough produce and wines. Snapper Bar is seasonal and subject to operating schedule, offering a casual waterfront setting and may be available for private functions.

What facilities are on site?

Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool by the waterfront, lounges and sunny decks with views over Portage Bay, kayak and paddleboard hire, plus access to local walks including the Queen Charlotte Track. Kayak and paddleboard hire are free of charge for in-house guests only.

Is the Resort smoke-free?

Yes. All guest rooms and indoor common areas are smoke-free. A refresh fee applies if smoke is detected.

How do I get to Portage Resort?

By boat from Picton, take a direct water taxi to Torea Bay, which takes about 15 minutes, then continue 4 minutes by pre-booked vehicle or enjoy a scenic 30-minute walk over the saddle to the resort. Services also operate from Havelock, about 40 minutes by boat. By road, Kenepuru Road is open and provides vehicle access to the resort. By helicopter, scenic flights are available with regional partners such as Helicopters Nelson, and a PORTAGE10 promo is available for resort guests subject to provider terms. By air, guests can fly with Pelorus Air from Picton to Nopera in about 10 minutes, then transfer by Kenepuru Water Taxi directly to Portage Bay. For luggage transfers to Torea Bay, book with Cougar Line or Beachcomber when arranging your water taxi. On departure, place bags in the luggage shed by 9:00 am for collection to Torea Bay.
