Bookings & Arrivals

  • Check‑in from 2:00 pm.

    Check‑out by 10:00 am. If you’d like a little extra time, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help (subject to availability and fees).

  • Guests must be 18+ to book. Please have photo ID available at check‑in. Guests under 18 stay with a parent or guardian.

  • Infants (0–2 years): complimentary in existing bedding or a baby cot (subject to availability).

    Children under 12: no extra charge when using existing bedding; an extra bed (if available) is NZD 50 per person per night.

    Guests 12+ are classed as adults. Room rates are based on up to 2 guests; where permitted, extra guests are NZD 50 per person per night.

  • A valid credit card with sufficient funds is required. Online bookings made on our website are charged at the time of booking.

Cancellation & Refunds

    • Flexible Daily Rates: 14‑day cancellation. Inside 14 days or for no‑shows, the full accommodation charge may apply.

    • Prepaid Flexi‑date Rates: Discounted, prepaid and non‑refundable. You may rebook to a new date; any rate difference applies (no refund if the new rate is lower).

    • Specials & Packages: Individual policies apply and are shown during booking.

    • Refunds (where applicable) are returned to the same card used for payment.

    • Prices are in NZD; international card refunds may vary with exchange rates.

Payments & Taxes

  • Visa and Mastercard are accepted. A 2.5% card surcharge applies.

    EFTPOS is available and does not incur a surcharge.

    Portage Resort is cash‑free; payments are by EFTPOS or credit card only.

    All prices are in New Zealand Dollars and include 15% GST.

  • Yes. Online payments are processed through DPS Payment Express (PCI DSS compliant with SSL encryption) in line with NZ regulations.

Rooms & Amenities

  • Private ensuite bathroom; tea & coffee making.

    Many rooms include balconies or patios with views over Portage/Kenepuru Bay (room‑type dependent).

    Complimentary Wi‑Fi is available across the resort.

  • Rooms are serviced daily.

    Guest laundry is available (ask reception for details).

Dining

  • Portage Restaurant & Bar: all‑day dining showcasing local Marlborough produce and wines.

    Snapper Bar (seasonal/subject to operating schedule): casual waterfront setting; may be available for private functions.

Facilities & Services

  • Outdoor swimming pool by the waterfront.

    Lounges and sunny decks with views over Portage Bay.

    Kayak and paddleboard hire; access to local walks including the Queen Charlotte Track.

  • Yes. All guest rooms and indoor common areas are smoke‑free. A refresh fee applies if smoke is detected.

Getting Here

  • By boat: From Picton, take a direct water taxi to Torea Bay (about 15 minutes) then continue 4 minutes by pre‑booked vehicle or enjoy a scenic 30‑minute walk over the saddle to the resort. Services also operate from Havelock (about 40 minutes by boat).

    By road: Kenepuru Road is open, providing vehicle access to the resort.

    By helicopter: Scenic flights with regional partners (e.g., Helicopters Nelson). A PORTAGE10 promo is available for resort guests (subject to provider terms).

    By air: Fly with Pelorus Air (Picton to Nopera ~10 minutes), then transfer by Kenepuru Water Taxi directly to Portage Bay.

    For luggage transfers to Torea Bay, book with Cougar Line or Beachcomber when arranging your water taxi. On departure, place bags in the luggage shed by 9:00 am for collection to Torea Bay.
